Grandma's Annual Halloween Party!
On Sunday evening we went to Bountiful for my Mom's Annual Halloween Party. The kids look forward to this tradition every year. This year it started with dinner, then pumpkin carving, and ended with bobbing for apples and treats. Every year it's a little bit different. It was on Sunday this year, because of the mini-bowl, so it had to end early - school night :( But the kids had a great time and it's always a lot of laughs when we all get together.
Our boys gave it their all...
On Saturday afternoon the Roy Royals ~Mighty Mite A~ ended up losing their first game at the Weber State University WFFL Mini-Bowl :( Ry had one fabulous QB sack at the first of the game, then they constantly had two or three boys on him the rest of the game. The team had a fun week full of surprises from the football moms, team meeting and dinner at the rec center, and lots of long hard practices. It was a week I am sure none of the boys will forget. After the mini-bowl game, everyone was invited to go to dinner at Ligori's. We will sure miss seeing all of our football friends every night, but look forward to seeing them again soon at the team banquet.
Final Score: Roy A 19 vs. West Haven Maroon 40

Mini-Bowl, HERE WE COME!
Roy 19 Vs. West Haven (White) 18
Our boys played an amazing game today! The game was played on a neutral field, Davis High, at 2:00 this afternoon, and we FINALLY, after 2 weekends in rain/snow, had perfect weather. Ry got in a good play causing WH to fumble the ball, Derick recovered it for Roy, and we got it on video! As you can tell from the score - it was another tense game. It came down to the last 11 seconds of the game, but our boys pulled it off! WAY TO GO ROYALS!
~ NEXT WEEKEND ~

~ Open House ~
Nancy, a lady I met through football, makes these cute watches with the changeable bead bands. The watch face is $10 and most bands are $10, the bands with the big bulky beads are $15. These are amazing prices! If you go into the Quilted Bear they sale for around $20+ each.I am having a open house next Thursday, Oct. 23rd, from 6-8 pm.
There will be a large selection to choose from that night, so arrive early for the best selection! The bracelets come in silver, wood, black, and lots of fun colors. Everyone is invited! Let me know if you need more information.
Hope to see you there :)

I love this poster!

I have been in charge of Red Ribbon Week at Midland Elementary for the past 5 years. Every year the 6th Grade Peer Leaders help me choose themes, activities, and treats. This year the theme for the poster contest was "Color Me Drug Free". This poster was submitted by a Kindergartner, and because the poster has to be done entirely by the student, the judges eliminated this poster - thinking a Kindergartner could not have done this alone :( I love it! It's the cutest poster I have seen in 5 years. So, because it was not able to win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, I made sure this little boy got a special surprise, I hope he likes it :) You can tell that whoever helped him spent a lot of time and energy on it. Each different color is a piece of torn construction paper. To the student and parents of this poster: I think you did a FABULOUS Job!
Adam, Carie & Girls
When Joel and I began dating, we decided to set up our best friends. They already knew one another, in fact -if I remember right- Carie thought Adam was kinda obnoxious, Adam...obnoxious...NEVER ;) Anyway, on attempt # 2 or 3, the four of us crammed into my red Geo Metro and headed out to Mulligans to go mini-golfing. When walking up to pay, Joel acted like he forgot his wallet in my car, we started walking back to my car, got in and drove away.....We left them there alone for two hours :) Long story short, they got married 6 months before Joel and I.
Carie made this slide show of their family. They have the cutest girls, full of energy, just like their Dad! They recently moved from Riverdale up 5 hours into Idaho. Even though we didn't see them often enough, we already miss them terribly. While watching the slide show she emailed me, my kids started asking if we were going to Adam and Carie's Halloween party this year... I had to remind them that they no longer lived in Riverdale. Ky first said - It's going to be a long drive to go to their birthday parties :)
p.s. Happy Birthday Adam...in about 10 days!

I'm crushed...
Back in 1995, Joel's friend, Adam, was leaving for basic training and asked us to go get a picture taken so he'd have a picture to take with him. So, one night after getting off work at the mall, Joel and I went down to Kiddie Kandis and had this picture taken.
Today, while Ky and her friend were inside playing, I heard Ky's friend say, "that's a cute couple" then she turned to me and asked, "who's this couple in the picture?". I said, "that's Joel and I, before we got married". She said, "uh-uh" (?), basically no-way. I said, "yes, I promise it is". She just stood there, shaking her head no, staring at me like I was absolutely crazy. Ky was no help, she was just standing there laughing - little stinker! I swear when I looked in the mirror this morning, I still looked exactly the same, but apparently not :0)

Roy 19 - Sky View 13
Yesterday got pretty tense as we played another 8-0 team, Sky View, from Smithfield, UT. We were tied at 13, then with 20 seconds to go our boys made it to the 1 1/2 yard line. Then it took them all 4 downs to make the winning touch down with 6 seconds left in the game. Sky View has an amazing football team! They really made our boys work hard for this win.
Next week the Royals play West Haven White and they too have gone all season being undefeated. My nephew, Bailey(my brothers son), also plays on this team. The winner of this game will go to the WFFL Mini Bowl that's held at Weber State University the following Saturday, October 25th. So, no matter who wins on Saturday, me and my family will be going to watch the championship game, either to watch my son or my nephew.
I am so glad that all of this snow waited until today to start pouring down. Yesterday it was cold and raining off and on, but it would have been absolutely miserable to play in a of foot snow in a complete white-out. Hopefully all of this white stuff will melt and the temperatures will be back into the 60's before next Saturdays game.
Go Roy Royals!

This made me laugh :)
I found this on a friends blog and loved it so much, I had to share!
A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom. "You know what?" says the 6 year old. "I think it's about time we start cussing." The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6 year old continues. "When we go downstairs for breakfast I'm going to say 'hell' and you say 'ass'..OK?" The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm. Their mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast. "Aw hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios." WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear every step. The mom locks him in his room & shouts, "You can just stay there till I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old, and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast young man?" "I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it won't be Cheerios!"

Organized Kaos...
So, today at the school was Grandparents Lunch day. This is the one day that grandparents are invited to come to school and have lunch with their Grandchildren (they are welcome anytime, this is just the one day a year they get an invitation to come). I lose hours of sleep over this event every year. I keep thinking how can I organize it better, how can we move people faster through the line (I know their grandparents and some great grandparents -older-, they generally move slow, but lunch is only a half a hour long), how can we help kids and grandparents find each other easier, so on and so on... Sure, we get a few complaints, but overall the Grandparents love it and the Thank You's we get way outweigh the complaints.
It's so cute to watch these older people with their Grandchildren, they act they haven't seen each other since the last Grandparents Lunch. Some leave teary eyed and some have to stop and tell us, volunteer mom's, about their cute conversations with their Grandkids :) I am thrilled that they enjoy it.
My kids had their Grandpa and Grandma from Joel's side come today, they are both retired. I always think that since both of my parents work that they either wouldn't want to or be able to come and I don't want to disappoint my kids. But every year, after it's over, I wish I would have given them the option and left it to them to decide. So, MOM - DAD, next year you are being invited and hopefully you can make time to come up!
So, this week we "PTA" closed the fundraiser, finalized the last t-shirt order, and enjoyed Grandparents Lunch...Next week, I move onto Red Ribbon Week, short 3 day week, and then I am finally going to be able to slow down on my PTA involvement! Yeah! THANK YOU to my wonderful husband who has been supportive of my involvement and patient while I neglected the house, the laundry, the dishes, the kids, the dogs, and of course, him :) I love you Joel and I PROMISE to quit the PTA....in only 4 more years!
p.s. THANK YOU - Kim, Jackie, Diana, Robbin, Leilani, Rod, and our AMAZING Lunch Ladies - for helping me out today!

Ky's Kiddo Tag
I'll post the picture she had taken with one of the Royalaire's when we get it at the end of the month.
So, after my Dad complained that there was no "Kiddo Tag" on Ky, she has given me permission to post about her. So here I go.
1. Ky loves to read. There have been many nights that when I go up to bed, hours after she is supposed to be asleep, that she is still up reading.
2. Ky had to have a palm tree. Yes, a palm tree. My Dad is a huge Jimmy Buffet fan, Parrot Head. So, he got a palm tree for his deck to go with his pair of "Jimmy Buffet Adirondack Chairs" (use the link if you, too, MUST have one of these fabulous chairs) and future pink flamingos, he just has to wait for my mom to pass away :D So, one day while walking around Lowe's Ky had a complete melt down because I would not buy her a huge palm tree, just like Grandpa's. Later she told my Dad about how mean I was for not buying it, and before I knew it my Dad had bought Ky her a palm tree. It was in our front yard for all to see, but now that it's turning cold, her palm tree is in her room, thank goodness :)
3. Ky loves being creative. Right now as I type she is making a jump rope out of rubber bands. She can also make a purse out of just about anything! We have many art projects that we have to save in my cedar chest, it's filling up quickly. I need to start taking pictures of her creations and make a scrapbook for her.
4. Ky loves to cuddle. Her day is not complete until she has her cuddle time with both her mom and her dad. She also like to cuddle with Zoe, when we can get her to settle down.
5. Ky loves to bake. She loves when she can go over and bake with her Grandma Dare. They spend hours baking all kinds of sweet treats. Her favorite item to make this time of year is, of course, pumpkin pie and if anyone has a birthday coming up, they always make fabulous cupcakes.

Tagged again...
Okay, so this time I have been tagged to tell 7 random facts about myself. So, here I go. Hope I don't bore anyone.
1. I went to London, England for my senior trip with my fabulous cousin, Tami. We spent 10 days on trains, bikes, and foot exploring all of England. Leeds Castle, in Kent, England, was my favorite by far. It is SO beautiful. http://www.leeds-castle.com/
2. My sister, Susie, who I dreaded coming into the world seven years after me (I was a spoiled only girl), is now one of my very best friends! I love ya girl :)
3. I have a hard time going to sleep at night with my closet door open. Drives me crazy, but at that point I am too lazy to get up and do something about it. Most of the time Joel will close it for me, I pull the -your closer to it- card, he is my super-hero!
4. I wish I could go back to a Christmas when both of my kids still believed in Santa. I'm sad that the excitement over Santa is gone from my house forever :( To those parents that have kids that still want to go to the mall to tell Santa what they want for Christmas...make time to go and ENJOY IT!
5. I knew from the very first time Joel kissed me that he was the one I would marry and spend the rest of my life with, now we are sealed and I get him for eternity! Him and I were best friends for two years before we started dating. After he broke up with his girlfriend, I knew I had to give it a try, so I broke up with my boyfriend to purse him. Once we crossed that line from being just friends - I was sold. He still, after 15 yrs, has that twinkle in his eyes when he looks at me, mostly because he's not quite sure what to do with me!
6. I LOVE FOOTBALL. I LOVE to watch my son play it, I love to go to the high school games, I love to watch it in stadiums with thousands of people, I love to watch it on TV, I love everything about it. Besides my son and his team, I don't have any favorites. I grew up with my Dad and Brother being avid Raider fans, but it never really stuck. Ry has got me pulling more for BYU than the U, but only when they are playing against each other. Joanna, one of my good friends, has season tickets to the U of U football games, and I love going with her to those. I am an all around football fan!
7. I am addicted to blogging. As you can tell, once I start typing, I ramble on and on. I also love changing the background on my blog. Will it be new....will it be the same....it's always a surprise!

Kiddo Tag
1. Ry loves collecting stuff. His top drawer of his dresser is full of old coins, football cards, Pez candy dispensers and all things BYU Football.
2. Ry is going to moonlight in a rock-n-roll band playing the oldies! At least he BETTER, otherwise all the hours he spends playing guitar hero will be wasted :)
3. Ry is a "Do as I say ~ not as I Do" kind of kid. He loves tormenting his sister, but if anyone else is tormenting her, he is the first one there to defend her.
4. Ry LOVES flying in airplanes. I thought for sure he would have his pilots license before his drivers license. Ry took his first airplane ride in my father-in-laws airplane at the age of 2 and was hooked. Luckily for me and my sanity, my father-in-law sold his airplane about a year ago and has not bought another one...yet.
5. Ry is a morning person, just like his Dad. Ry loves to get up early, go for a run, shower, get ready for the day, and start playing playstation all before I even consider getting out of bed.
