Such a stinker!

Ky has been complaining about her heel hurting for a while now :( I, being the not so great Mom, thought she had probably hurt it at recess and was using it as an excuse...hurting at convenient times. However, after talking to her teacher at school and having a few bad morning and nights with it, I took her to the doctor on Friday. After a few x-rays it showed that she has plantar fasciitis. Plantar Fasciitis occurs when the long fibrous plantar fascia ligament along the bottom of the foot develops tears in the tissue resulting in pain and inflammation.

What causes this?? Going barefoot...that's my girl (I hate shoes), Bad shoes...flip flops and tons of other cute but non-supportive shoes, running on hard surfaces...playground, and jumping/tumbling...when is she not. So, she does/has all the things that causes it, we are doomed. It will be a miracle if we can cure on our own.

The cure for plantar fasciitis should begin with rest, icing it, and over the counter medications. Her Pediatrician told us that she should rest, stay off of it, for 4 days... REST?? WHAT?? You would have thought somebody had shot her! She started crying, saying it was going to be like she was grounded. Oh boy, the tears that can come from this child is scary. The doctor then said that if it did not get better within a week, which it should if she stayed off of it, we then would have to follow up with an Orthopedic (?) (child bone and muscle doctor), who could recommend foot supports, a cast, physical therapy, and or surgery (I think he was trying to scare her into staying off of it). GREAT! FABULOUS! (sigh) I was pretty sure he should just schedule the appointment now, keeping this child off of her feet is and was next to impossible.

Well after a long weekend of doing next to nothing and trying to keep her off of it, it is still hurting her...surprise, surprise!! So, now I am left with either taking her out of school for a few days and duct taping her to the couch/bed, or calling this specialist...Hmmm. I am thinking that casting it, so she can't bend it, is a great idea. Does this make me a terrible mother?? Oh well, maybe I'll win some kind of award, lol :)

It's Over!!

Thank You Panthers!

As of today the cookie dough fundraiser at the school is over! I couldn't be happier with the response that we, the PTA, got from the students and their parents. It was definitely worth the time and energy that Kelly and I put into it. Now I see a limo lunch, with about 40 students, to McDonald's in my future...Good Times!

Thank you Kelly!! I know I tell you all the time, but I truly think you are FABULOUS :)

It's about time...

After 3 long months, of dieting and exercising, I have finally reached my first weight loss goal. I have lost 20 pounds, 16 inches, and 2 pant sizes! It took SO long to start to lose anything that I almost gave up, but I'm glad I didn't!! I hope to reach my next goal before school is out for the summer...wish me luck :)

HOWEVER - If you see Joel...PLEASE offer him a big fat brownie, cookie, doughnut, or what ever you have that is extremely fattening ;) He is losing it much faster than me and it's NOT FAIR!! Just kidding...He's looking great and I am very proud of him :)

I'm so glad it's over!

Yesterday, it is yesterday as of 7 minutes ago, was the longest day I've had in a long time. First of all I woke feeling like a

to hear my son tell my darling husband, who okay'ed it, that he was taking off for the skate park...AT 6:30 am! I laid there hoping I was still dreaming, but unfortunately I wasn't. So needless to say, I woke up, got dressed and went to the skate park...NOT HAPPY! Most days I feel like this would solve all my problems with Ry...
If only he weren't so heavy, KIDDING!
Then...

It being a typical Sunday morning at our house, when we told our kids to go get ready for church, they both started with the
resulting in them getting to leave and walk home in the wind and rain after Sunday School, leaving during primary, which they both have trouble staying in :|

Wow! Can you tell Joel and I rule with an iron fist...no, sadly they are in total control most days :(

Then for the final TA DA on my night, Ry decided to make up a song that every ten year old boy's mother would be proud of... to the tune of pretty women, Ry starts signing:

Naked lady walking down the street...

(I turn to Joel thinking "did he really just say that!" and before any reaction can be made he added...)

Naked lady the kind I'd like to see! (Joel starts laughing - NOT HELPING!!)

I immediately put an end to it, then at this point I start asking myself all kinds of questions like "where have I gone terribly wrong with raising this child?" " I am being paid back for something terrible I have done wrong?" "MOTHER, did you curse me with this child?". Even as I set here typing at 12:39 in the morning - shaking my head - I wonder why? He could tell I was not happy and went straight to bed, started reading a book, and was a perfect angel the rest of the evening.

OH BOY... Why I am even blogging this is beyond me and I will probably be hauled into DCFS. I think at this point I am finally ready to find a

a couple of

and take a nice long, hot

Then I just might be able to call it a very long day and finally get some

I got a Job!

Funny...but it's truly how I feel sometimes!

A few weeks ago an opportunity was given to me, at my kids school, for me to work one day a week, Wednesdays - aka early out day! Hard, I KNOW! Every Wednesday I teach a one hour artist/composer lesson to one class out of four classes in each grade, four times a day...then the next Wednesday we split up and teach it in the other half of the school. There are 4 teachers all together, so I'm not in it alone --- thank goodness. The other three ladies have been teaching the class for over a year and a half - they are pro's at it - I am not :( I think over time I will build my confidence up and start getting better and better at it... (sigh) hopefully, even though I am pretty sure that I will NEVER get comfortable teaching in front of those SCARY sixth graders! Wow! Now I know why the sixth grade teachers have to be so strict, they can totally walk ALL over you!

The lessons come already laid out in a program the school buys once a year, so the prep work is very minimal for each two week lesson. The hours are great, the pay is even better! I can't believe what they are willing to pay us to teach it - it's fabulous! We only have another month left of lessons for this school year and but I am crossing my fingers that I get the opportunity to do it again next year. The extra cash is great and I enjoy being involved over at the school :)

I've got...

I'VE GOT COLD FEET!

For those of you that know me well, this is going to come as a SHOCK, but today Joel offered, even had it listed on ksl.com, to let me sale my car and buy a NEW one... I couldn't do it! SHOCKING, I know!! I am starting to worry about myself, something MUST be wrong! I have wanted a new car for SO long that I can't even remember when I started dropping the hints. I already had the new car I wanted picked out, got his approval, and the deal was almost done... THEN... I got cold feet. What's with that? OH...I know! It must be because it was his idea and not mine! I'll just wait a week, make the suggest again - my idea this time again - then I'm sure that I'll want to JUMP right into that new car payment again. Oh my...even as I type that I get the chills. Having a car payment again would SERIOUSLY reduce my trips to Wal-Mart, and I'm just not sure that I can commit to that. I liked it SO much better when he was telling me NO! Then Joel was being the meanie, I could continue my trips to Wal-Mart, and I could continue to blame him for the OLD icky car I was driving...

The You Tube Video...

Last Friday at school the talk was all about the video Hannah had made and posted on You Tube declaring her love for Ry. Fabulous! Let the fun times begin! Right now I think we have Ry convinced that girls are nothing but trouble ~ join me in praying that sticks until he is 30!! Now I just have to convince all the girls that Ry isn't worth their trouble or heartbreak. I promise his dimples and big blue eyes really aren't that cute, take it from me...the cuteness wears off quickly ;) Wish me luck!

PSS : I can do that!

This week it was my turn. I asked, "What two things could you do when you were a child that you can't do now? and of course the flip side to that...what two things could you not do when you were a child but you can do now?

As a child I could...

1. Tumble! I could do it all, well...most of it. I stopped taking after I could land my round off back handspring, and standing back handspring by myself. I started taking again with friends in high school, but while messing around one day - I think I was trying to show my friend what she was doing wrong with her arms (going out to wide into back handspring), and I broke my wrist...that ended my tumbling days :(

2. Horseback Riding! I had my own horse growing up, RED, a huge brownish red Quarter Horse! I loved that horse, he was a gentle giant! I spent hours and hours riding both western and english style, it was fabulous! Then one day I let a friend from California ride him...I'm not sure what she did to him, but he bucked her off, she got hurt, and it freaked me out! From that day on my parents had a giant puppy dog in the back yard :( Since then I have witnessed what others go through after getting hurt from horses...one almost killed a family member when her horse rolled over on top of her, YIKES! So, I will no longer have a pet that weighs more than me and I stay away from riding horses, sadly...

As an adult I can...

1. Read an entire book! Well, technically I could have done it as a child as well, but back then it would have never happened, I hated reading. I don't think I read a book cover to cover until I was in my late twenties...Now, I can't seem to put one down. I would much rather read a book then watch TV.

2. GO Camping! As a child I absolutely hated anything to do with nature. My parents would always drag me to go on day trips to take a hike, go fishing, or worse, go camping for days at a time. I would whine to my parents that I MUST HAVE BEEN ADOPTED, and my real parents lived in NY and would come back for me if they knew what they were putting me through ;) I was, am, such a brat, but they love me! Now...I absolutely LOVE camping and can't wait until we can go again this summer. Luckily both of my kids love it as well, so I don't have one of those bratty kids that complain and whine the entire time, like I did :( Sorry Mom and Dad. Maybe if we had a 25ft camping trailer back then, like I have now, it would have been better...but probably not, lol.

Mom & Ky time :)

Today, while Ry was at a friends house, Ky and I had quality crafty time together. It was so much fun! We just used stuff we had around the house. It was originally to entertain her, because she couldn't find a friend to play with and the internet and cable was out, but I think I ended up having more fun then she did :) Thanks for hanging with me Ky!

Judd & Nancy...

On Saturday night Joel and I went to dinner with my brother in law, Judd, and his "friend", Nancy. I adore her! We had great fun laughing at the Dare Brother's expense, it was fabulous! I don't think Judd could not have found someone more perfect for him. She is able to give Judd the gentle pushes he needs in his life. Now we just need him to make a commitment and keep her in his life permanently! If it were up to me, I'd be planning the bridal shower already.

JUDD ~ Don't freak out, just breath....;)

She makes me smile :)

Tuesday at school was hat day for Cat In The Hat week. She insisted on wearing her pink bunny ears with a pink sweater and pink leggings... I said "oh boy, are you sure... what will the kids in your class say, it's not really a hat you know?" She told me that they would LOVE IT! Okay... but I worried about her all day. I even took this picture in the parking lot with my phone, to prove to her one day that she did in fact wear pink bunny ears to school one day when she was in the second grade, lol! When she came out of school, with them still on, she told me that everyone LOVED her bunny ears and even asked her were she had gotten them. I just laughed. Then today it was wear green day. When I dropped the kids off at school I noticed a girl in her class come in with the same bunny ears in green! I started laughing... I guess I have a little trend setter!

PSS : Bad Relationships

This week Lisa asked, "If you had a good friend who was in a bad relationship, would you say something or keep your mouth shut? Why did you choose what you did?"

That's a hard one... I think that I would just to be there for her/him. I'd listen to their complaints, validate how they are feeling and suggest ideas to improve the situation. Most importantly, I'd be honest with them about the way I feel and what I would do. I would let my friend know that life is way too short to be unhappy, but know matter what they decide to do, I will ALWAYS be there for them and support their decision.

I forgot to mention...

Ogden L.D.S. Temple
Friday, February 22, 2003

I forgot to mention that is was also the 6th anniversary of our temple sealing. I can't believe how little my kids were! Ry was 4 yrs. old and Ky was almost 2 yrs. old. They were absolutely perfect inside the temple. I will always remember when they brought our kids in to be sealed to us, after Joel and I had been sealed, it was the most amazing moment seeing them dressed in all white and excited to be there. While kneeling at the alter with Joel and the kids, I remember looking into the mirrors and thinking that my cute little family will now be together for eternity, it was the one of the greatest moments of my life :) This picture was taken as we were walking out of the Ogden Temple. Oh my goodness...my babies have grown up WAY to fast :(

The past week...

Wellington House Reception Center
Saturday, February 24, 1996

Last week, Tuesday, February 24th, was our 13th wedding anniversary! We were able to get away from the kids for the night, and went to dinner and then a movie, Taken. The next day Joel took the day off and we spent the entire day together...Doing what you ask? We started the master bathroom remodel! Yeah! I was SO excited! Our bathroom has needed this attention for a long time. It wasn't our most romantic anniversary, but it's what I wanted :) Thanks Joel!

The rest of the week didn't go so well, lol... It was full of drama in the PTA, I wasn't directly involved, but was the one everyone turned to for answers. Wow! I was overwhelmed to say the least. Friday I stayed home with Ky, who wasn't feeling well, and spent the day hiding out! By Friday night I think most of the drama was over with and my friends had made up! Yeah! I was glad to see these three ladies work things out, they have been friends for to long to let something SO simple come between them - Love you gals!

On Saturday Carie called and told us that they were in town, headed up to Park City, and invited us to join them for dinner. It was hard to tell the kids that they were going to back to Grandma's for the night, especially Ky who wasn't feeling well, but they handled it okay. We left around 3 o'clock and drove up to Park City and met up with Adam and Carie at The Canyons Resort were they were staying for the night. We ended up going to Cabo Cantina for dinner, YUM - Mexican, it's my favorite! The others who joined us were: Seth, Carie's brother, and his wife Danni and Jermaine, Carie's sister, and her boyfriend (I can't remember his name, sorry). We had a great time visiting and catching up with everyone. Afterwords they went back to the resort and we headed back home. I normally don't enjoy driving long distances for dinner, but this time I did :o)

On Sunday Joel and I had planned to go to church but ended up sleeping in until 11:00, THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED! So, we decided to stay home and relax...which I needed after the L-O-N-G week I had endured. Around 5:00 we headed over to Joel's parents for dinner and finally brought the kids back home. I start missing them when they are over there too much!

Today was fabulous... After a FAME meeting over at the school I went to lunch with my sister and her son, Bodee, and grandparents. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Now...if only the rest of the week could go so smooth!
