Skate Night

Friday night Joel and I took Ky and her friend, Kynzee, and Ry and his friend, Dawson, to Classic Fun Center! If you over look the fact that the kids out numbered the adults 10 to 1 and the high noise level...it wasn't half bad :)

This short video clip is of Ky on her first Boy's Choice skate :) A boy, named Gage, from her class at school came over and asked her.... Then they skated the rest of the night together, it was SO CUTE! She is growing up too quickly!

On my laptap it looks great, on my mother-in-laws computer...not so much - it's too dark. I hope on your computer you can see it like I do!

Daily Life

Life has been crazy busy lately. Last Friday, the 17th, I babysat Bodee, my nephew. Since the time I watched him when he was extremely sick, 104 fever, he has not liked to be left by his mom :( When they first came inside I got him distracted by taking him outside to play in the sand box with his tractors, then when his mom left...she drove out the wrong side of the neighbor and he saw her leave. Oh boy, the tears started. I want mama, dada, mama, dada...was all I heard for about 30 minutes.

Around the time he started crying so hard I though he was going to throw up, I had a fabulous idea! (Remember...I don't do throw up) I can check Ry out of school a hour and a half early to come home and play with him!! It being Friday I knew Ry had art and P.E. the last part of the day, so he wouldn't miss much. The minute I said "Bodee - Should we go get Ry!" he completely changed! After a long sigh...he said "yah" and stopped crying!!

Yeah for Aunt Heidi! When Bodee first saw Ry he ran and gave him a big hug, it was the cutest thing ever. Later Ry told Susie that he charges a dollar a hour for babysitting - and she paid him, lol! Ry also said that it wore him out... I told him to remember that when he gets older - babies are A LOT of work!

On Monday when I Watched Bodee again he didn't cry once! I was so nervous because I can't keep checking Ry out of school to play with him :( bummer! I found out later that she had prepped him the night before - "You want to go play with Heidi?!" - and it worked! Yeah!! About 30 minutes before she got off of work, he said -without crying- "Heidi, I want my Mom..." I told him it was okay and that she would be here soon. He just said "K" and I distracted him by having him help me pull weeds outside! It was a great day :)

On Tuesday I had a meeting with the Weber County Superintendent, Mike Skeen. He was amazing and acted really interested in what I was looking for in the new principal that we will be getting next year. Mike met with me, the PTA President, and Lance, the Community Council President, after he met with the school faculty. The board meeting when the announce the new principal is on May 6th. I'm so excited and so nervous.

On Wednesday I went to Bountiful to pick up my Dad and take him to the hospital. Once there we met up with my Mom, Susie, and Bodee. We all hung out and visited while my Dad had some test run. Good times! I loved it. My sister and I get going - teasing our parents - and it's fun all around. Afterwards we went to Tony's Pizza. Yeah! It's my comfort food, love that place! That night was busy with the cubs pinewood derby and a stake girls camp meeting. Overall it was a long day!

Thursday we had the final PTA meeting of the year. During this meeting Kim, the outgoing President, turned it over to me. I was excited that a lot of people came out to the meeting and I think it will be an interesting two years. I have big shoes to fill, Kim was an amazing president, so wish me luck!!

Later that night my side of the family met at my grandparents house in the Terrace to celebrate my Mom's birthday. I think it was a bit much for my grandma to have a full house - she made absolutely NO sense, lol! Funny.... but sad :(

And finally... The Utah Jazz beat the L.A. Lakers!! Go Jazz!! I can't wait for the game tonight @ 7 pm, on KJAZZ!! We are going to tie up the series...hopefully :0)
I love you Mom! Hope you had a great birthday :)

Fight Like A Girl :)

One of my friends, Jaimee, had this video posted on her blog. I loved it and thought I would share it! My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about 8 years ago (at the end of the song) and I am so proud of her for fighting it like a girl! I love you Mom.

Easter Day

Spring Break

Thursday night we had an amazing surprise! An old neighbor that had moved to Germany three years ago, due to military transfer, showed up at our door! Bill and his son, Andrew. Bill's wife, Julie, did not make the trip due to work :( Hopefully we will see her soon! Ry and Andrew are about the same age and were inseparable during the seven years they lived across the street. Ry really struggled when Andrew moved away, lots of tears... Now we find out they have moved back to the U.S., about a month ago, living in Ohio. Since we are not listed in the telephone book they had no way to call and tell us they were on a road trip to Utah for spring break.

The boys were SO excited to see each other and picked up like they hadn't missed a day. It was adorable. So, needless to say Ry spent as much time as possible with Andrew and his father. Thursday night we took Andrew to dinner and then he stayed at our house for a few hours playing with both Ry and Ky. Friday Bill took Andrew and Ry bowling and then to see the movie Race to Space Mountain, after which they spent the evening at a softball tournament that Bill's friends were playing in. Ry left at 9 am and return home at 10pm.

Friday while the boys were off playing, I took Ky and her friend Caitlyn to see the new Hannah Montana movie. The girls were so excited! We picked Caitlyn up and then stop for candy. Once at the theater we also bought Pizza Hut Pizza and Pucker Powder to take into the show with us. Wow, they had a ton of food :)

Friday night we sat home and watched the Jazz lose to San Antonio :(

Saturday morning, while Ry was at another softball game with Andrew, I took Ky to an Easter Egg Hunt at the Uintah Park. My sister, Susie, still lives there -where I grew up- with her husband, Ryan, and their son, Bodee. I enjoy going to this event every year. It's fun to see families that I grew up with and catch up with old friends.

Saturday afternoon both of our kids went with Andrew and his Dad to Classic Skating in Layton. While the kids were gone, Joel and I went out to one of Joel's favorite stores...Smith and Edwards, the country boys store! I am still surprised, every time we go out there, at how busy it is.

It is the oddest store out in Willard, the middle of nowhere. Actually, I was surprised at how much building is going on out there. I remember when you could drive out to Willard and not see much of anything, except junk yards, once you passed the 12th street driving down 1900 West from Roy.

Saturday night Joel and I went to his parents Easter dinner. I'm sure that his parents and grandparents were disappointed that our kids weren't there, but they understood that they wanted to be with Andrew. Judd and Nancy came and brought her son, Ty, with them. I was bummed that the news of them getting married was an April Fools Day joke, but I am crossing my fingers that she will become part of the family, officially, very soon!

Later that night, Joel and I took Ky, (Ry was still with Andrew) to Craig and Darcie's to watch the Jazz lose to Golden State :(

Funny :o)

Today my sister, Susie, called to tell me that Ky is forwarding text messages from her cell phone. I asked Susie what Ky and sent her and she said told me the text said "If you love your mom, send this to ten people...a girl ignored this and 4 days later her died".

I started laughing and said, "Well at least we know that she loves me". Susie said, "Wait, it gets better!". Susie said told me that she called Ky back and asked her if she had sent it and Ky said, "Yes, I love my mom so I HAD TO, the girls mom died 4 days later!" Susie then told Ky not to believe these things and that she didn't have to forward it to ten people. Ky said "Okay" and then hung up. A few minutes later Susie received another text from Ky and it said..."But I love my mom! Hi"

She is so stinking cute, I adore her :)

Yes, both of my kids have there own cell phones, I get harassed about it a lot, but it is truly just for my convenience! Okay, and they might be a little spoiled ;)

4th Grade Luau

Joel's Birthday!

For Joel's birthday I decided to take him away for the night. On Sunday, after dropping the kids off at his Mom's house, we headed out of town. Later that evening we checked into our hotel room....and watched the Jazz game!

THEY WON!! Yeah! That doesn't happen very often when they are on the road.

After the game we ventured out of the room and did something that Joel and I haven't done in a very long time...We went for dessert! It was fabulous!! Joel wanted cheesecake and I picked the apple cobbler, YUM! Just for the record...mine was way better than his, so we both ate mine. Oh well, only half the calories then...right? Then this morning after breakfast we headed back home.

For his birthday dinner, I suggested we go to Javier's, but he wanted my homemade chicken enchilada's...boy was that a mistake, lol. After making a special trip to the store for the supply's, I burned them!! Ry came in and wanted to go with his friend, Chance, for a minute. I thought sure - go ahead - I'll just turn these down to keep them warm....Oops! We ended up eating crispy chicken enchiladas! Next year hopefully he'll remember and take me up on the suggestion to go out :)

Family Night!

Last week Joel got this fabulous idea, from a friend at work, to make this fun stencil that you could use to paint on clothes.

First you draw your design on freezer paper.

Then, very slowly...using all of your concentration,
you cut out your design...

Then after ironing the freezer paper onto your clothing,
(wax side down - making it stick) you can begin to paint!

Once your design is completely painted,
you then pull of the wax paper...

and, TA DA, you have your very own custom original!

It just doesn't get any better than that :)
HAPPY 33rd BIRTHDAY JOEL!
