Ky's Field Trip...

I was unable to go with Ky on her first field trip this year, however, thanks to Mrs. Smith's fabulous blog I can still add it to our collection of memories!

On September 3rd, we were able to go on a field trip to the Environmental Center, and we had a wonderful time! We got to try out different – and new – sports, like disc golf, rock climbing, ping pong, and archery. (Be careful when you’re letting go of the archery bow…I learned that the hard way!)

After I snapped my arm with the bow while demonstrating my “archery expertise,” I sat down and let a couple very capable parents take over. (Thanks to Mike and Dale) A little while later, I asked one of the students – Payton F. – if he wanted to take a turn trying to shoot the bow and arrow. He answered, “Well, my motto is: If the teacher gets hurt, I’m not doing it.”

All in all, though, we had a great time!

p.s. This is only half of her class... I wish class size's were this small, but that's not the case ;(

Poor Ry...

Taken from my iPhone...

On Ry's Birthday he wanted to go watch his old team play. I don't think he realized how hard it would be to sit on the bench the entire time. He said, "Mom, Now I now how the "10 play" kids feel....I just want to grab my pads and run out there!"). The very first year Ry started out as a 10 play kid, coaches have to play every kid at least 10 plays in every game, but in just a few weeks he moved to a starting position and has stayed there ever since, most times playing both sides of the ball even though his love is defense.

Taking the year off from football, due to injury, has been bittersweet. Next year will be the last year of rec football and then he'll be an 8th grader and playing for the Jr. High!

Ry's Birthday Weekend

My kids couldn't be more different from each other. Ky starts planning her next birthday party MONTHS before the actual day. Ry, on the other had, you can't get to commit to doing anything. Most years I will go ahead and plan something for him and a couple of friends...Lagoon, Speed Street, etc. This year I left it to him. He told me a few weeks ago that he just wanted the $$$.
So, that's what he got...mostly.

Grrr...I just discovered that I accidentally deleted all of my
pictures from yesterday when I updated my iPhone today...Grrr :(

After giving him his birthday card...with his money enclosed...

we told him that the day was his to plan.

Our day went something like this...

Breakfast, a football game (Roy Black vs. Brigham City), the end of another football game (Roy Gold vs. West Haven), shopping (the money was burning a hole ;), lunch at Red Lobster (where after another $100 I remembered why we don't eat there very often, OUCH!), more shopping, and then we headed to my mom's house to watch another football game and eat dinner.

BYU played their season's first game at home against Washington...and won 23-17. Ry was thrilled! It's sad how emotionally involved Ry get's watching his BYU football games...
Them winning was PERFECT was for his day to end!

Ry ended up spending all $100 at Zumie's in the Layton Mall. He made his own
custom skate board. I have to admit, it's kind of cool.

Tonight we celebrated with Joel's side of the family and he got more $$$. Next Sunday we will celebrate all of the September birthday's at my mom's house,
were he is hoping to get...more $$$ :)

Happy Birthday Buddy!! We love you and hope you had a great Birthday!

Congratulations Ry!!

Ry has wanted to be a 6th grade peer leader for as long as I can remember. The 6th graders vote for 12 peer leaders, three from each class. Last week he turned in his application and started working on his speech. Today was the big election day and I just found out that he won!! I am so excited for him :)

He wouldn't let anyone come to school to watch him give his speech, so I will post it online!

It was the perfect way to start off his birthday weekend....
HE TURNS 12 TOMORROW!!
