A Long Weekend :(

Friday I started the weekend with another girls lunch, this week at Chili's. Yeah! NORMAL FOOD! I have known these ladies for a few years, but it has been a blast getting to know them better. Friday night, while Joel and I went out on a much needed date, Ry played in another soccer game and he scored 3 out of the 6 goals! However they did lose by two points, final score 6-8 :( After the game, my brother took Ry and Ky over to Joel's parents house where they stayed until late Saturday.

For our date, Joel and I, went to the Prairie Schooner and then to a movie. Dinner was good, but it's definitely not my favorite steak house. The movie I picked was "New In Town" with Renee Zellweger. I thought it was very cute, but it was definitely a chic flick, and I am sure Joel would have preferred that I went to see it with my sister. However, he didn't complain and I love him for being a trooper! I made up for it with a lame guy movie we rented on Saturday night.

Saturday Joel and I went to lunch at the Training Table and then down my Mom's house for my aunt Shirley's 80th birthday party. She is cute as a button and I can see my mom becoming more and more like her sister, Shirley, all the time. I have to give another shout out to my wonderful husband who endured the house full of women for over two hours. I am positive he was hugged 45 times by all of my cousins and crazy old aunts, but he took it with a smile. He's fabulous!

Then the real fun began...

When we got home from my Mom's house, we walked into a flooded kitchen. Which is never a good thing for wood floors. After some investigation we found that the water hose in the back of our side by side refrigerator had sprung a major leak. While cleaning that up, Joel also discover that the toilet in the main bathroom also had issues. So we spent the evening running to get parts and making our repairs. The wood floor is warped pretty bad, but I am hoping once it dries out completely, it will go back down. If it doesn't we might be replacing our kitchen floor in the near future. Saturday night we watched that lame guy movie, I can't even remember the name...

AND THEN...

Sunday morning we woke up to the worst smell possible. We went room to room trying to find what was causing the smell... Two hours later we discovered that when the hose to the refrigerator broke it also leaked underneath into our crawl space, where we had laid carpet for the kids when they were smaller, turning it into a toy room. We had gotten the large piece of carpet from Joel's parent house when they replaced all of their carpet. Old carpet + lots of water = SMELLY MESS! Once the kids were too tall to go into their toy room we had begun filling it with stuff that needed to be stored. So we spent the entire day trying to get everything out of the way, cutting the wet carpet out in chunks, and hauling it outside... All before we were supposed to be to my brothers house for the Super Bowl party. Being late would have been bad!

The game was fun...the food was fantastic...the family and friends were fabulous! I was cheering for the Cardinals... they almost had it, but in the end I think everyone knew the Steelers would win. Ry was thrilled the Steelers won and it was fun watching him react during the last few minutes. The party was the best! Thanks again Brent and Christi, you two are simply wonderful!
